Google Cardboard

Google Cardboard
A cardboard which can take you to the world of virtual reality, where the reality is visual in a box of cardboard. Yes Google had made a Virtual Reality viewer which is made of cardboard due to which its cost comes much lower than any other VR viewer
like Oculus Rift which will cost more bucks then cardboard and offers some more features as compared to Google cardboard. It offers 360 degree of 3-D view which makes it look like reality hence it is termed as Virtual Reality.

All you need to get inside the virtual reality of cardboard is a Smartphone with cardboard app installed and a google cardboard kit. Just assemble the cardboard and put the smartphone into the lid of the cardboard and you are all done to jump in the VR world.

360° view of Google Cardboard

How Does It Work?

It works by placing the smartphone with compatible cardboard app installed in your phone, at the time when you place the phone in the cardboard it opens the app automatically by using the NFC tag  placed at the back of the lid. Then the two convex lenses fitted in the cardboard creates a 3D effect when we wear Google Cardboard on our eyes. You can move around your head to experience a 360 degree 3D view. You can just view cardboard demo videos or now there are many other 360 videos available on YouTube.
This works with the smartphones having two sensors i.e. Gyroscope and Magnetometer. Gyroscope helps the phone to move the scene according to movement of your head and magnetometer helps to click on the phone with a small magnet placed at the side of the Cardboard Viewer. This magnetometer senses the change in the magnetic field and clicks on the place where we point by seeing in the cardboard. It is very old technology but the use of technology is incredible in this piece of cardboard.
