The next gen air travel has come, a Canadian Engineer Charles Bombardier have made a concept of aircraft which is expected to reach a maximum speed of 12,430 miles an hour or we can say approximately 20000 kilo meter in just one hour, which means, it can take you from New Delhi to London which is 6700 km apart from each other.
Antipode Supersonic Jet |
This aircraft is dubbed as Antipode which means the diametrically opposite side of the globe. Its founder dreamed to make a way to reach the antipode as fast as possible.
It is a great moment for all of Indians that the design of this aircraft is given by a Indian Guy named Abhishek Roy, which is the founder of a company named Lunatic Koncepts.
How Does this thing works?
Antipode’s wings would be fitted with rocket boosters that would propel the aircraft to 40,000 feet, and enable it to reach Mach 5.
The plane would be powered by a scramjet engine. Unlike conventional jet engines, scramjet engines have virtually no moving parts.
The jet would be powered by burning oxygen from the atmosphere instead of having to carry heavy tanks full of oxygen. The machine would need to be built using heat and pressure-proof materials.
When We would be able to fly in this?
This aircraft is still a concept and may be available in couple of years. One of the drawbacks to his design, according to Bombardier, is to develop a reliable and stable screamjet engine.
One big problem is heat. Objects travelling past Mach 5 can reach upwards of 980 C (1800 F), and there are only few materials that can withstand those kinds of temperatures.
